What is it?
Our nest box is the first and only to be equipped with a night vision camera, totally wireless, not even for the current! Powered by a rechargeable battery and fully waterproof, our nest box allows you to see what is happening inside the nest in a simple way and without disturbing the birds, using your smartphone. No annoying wire to spread over tens of meters and no need for electrical outlets! You place your nest box or you prefer, and you can go inside and see what's going on without disturbing the birds.
And you can judge the quality of the video yourself on a smartphone.
The video below was recorded with a smartphone using a small wooden bird as an example of movement.
How does it work?
The operation is very simple: once you have placed the house (read our tips), to connect your device to the camera the first time, follow the steps below:
Press the power button on the battery holder
On your device, access the WiFi configuration menu to see the list of available WiFi networks (on smartphones, this is usually on "Settings" -> "Network" -> "WiFi" From the list, select the "Giroiseaux_Cam_xx" network (xx is a number between 00 and 99)
Once connected to the network, open the Internet browser and connect to the address "192.168.4.1/stream"
Now you are seeing in real time what happens inside the nest!
Once the observation is finished, it is not necessary to do anything else; the camcorder will automatically shut off shortly thereafter. For subsequent observations, it should be sufficient to press the power button, and your device should automatically connect to the WiFi network. Thus, you will be able to access the video that went directly to the specified address.
What do I need?
It is enough to have a smartphone of any brand and model capable of connecting to a WiFi network. The system is optimized to use the Google Chrome browser, which can be downloaded free of charge for all smartphones.
Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
Is the system dangerous for the birds? There is no risk for the birds. However, our system is completely turned off most of the time, and is only functional during active observation (when a device is connected).
Why is there a power button? Do I disturb the birds by approaching the nest? The power button is necessary to limit the use of the camera to observation and to ensure that the battery lasts longer. Approaching the nest to press the button does not cause any disturbance to the birds.
Can I leave the house in position all year? If possible, we recommend dismounting and bringing the whole house inside during the winter months. In any case, the battery must necessarily be brought inside in the colder months.
How long does the battery last? The battery life is closely linked to the type of use and the number of observations. With a couple of observations of a few minutes a day, the battery should last about 2 weeks. Recharging it is still quick and easy.
Can I use a tablet or a laptop? It is possible to connect other devices, such as a laptop or tablet, but for optimal operation we recommend the use of a smartphone.
Can I record a video and review it later?Yes, of course! To record a video of your observation, we recommend using one of the many free screen recording application you can download for Android or for IOs.
I cannot see anything on my smartphone! In case of specific problems with your smartphone, you can send us a message on our contact e-mail and we will do anything we can to help you fix the problem.
